Sports Injury
Sports injuries are injuries that occur to athletes participating in sporting events, competitions, training sessions or organized fitness activities.
The most common sports injuries are:
- Sprains and strains
- Knee injuries
- Swollen muscles
- Achilles tendon injuries
- Pain along the shin bone
- Fractures
- Dislocations
- Compartment Syndrome
- Shin Splints.
Causes:
- Accidents
- Poor training practices
- Improper equipment
- People not in shape
- Not warming up or stretching enough
- Overuse of a part of the body
- Hard contact with something
- Lack of appropriate footwear.
Symptoms:
- Inflammation
- Localized swelling
- Redness
- Loss of function
- Swelling
- Numbness
- Intense pain or tenderness
- Stiffness
- Loss of flexibility.
Sports injuries are of two types:
- Acute Injuries: Acute injuries, such as a sprained ankle, strained back, or fractured hand, occur suddenly during activity.
- Chronic Injuries: Chronic injuries usually result from overusing one area of the body while playing a sport or exercising over a long period.
